The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) announced on Monday that all its competitions, including Serie A, will remain suspended until June 14. Italy has been among one of the worst affected countries by the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. Serie A was on hold since March 9 this year.
Earlier, Italy’s Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte has given Serie A clubs permission to start team training from Monday. The announcement was made by Conte during a press conference and this comes as a big boost for the restart plans of Italy’s football competition.

A meeting is planned in the near future between Conte and Italian football bosses. The government’s technical and scientific committee will decide in the coming days if it accepts the new health protocols proposed for a return to group training and competition.
Serie A Restart Postponed Until June 14
The Lega Serie A had hoped for a return on June 13 but the FIGC has pushed back the date in line with a government decree that all sports competitions in the country be suspended until next month. The FIGC said the choice was made “pending any further… decision by the authorities”, suggesting the possibility of a restart on June 13 might still exist.

Bundesliga Became The First European Football League To Resume Proceedings
Global footballing action had gone into a standstill after the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. Bundesliga became the ice-breaker as it resumed its campaign from Saturday. Although the fans weren’t behind their teams as the campaign resumed, the players ensured that they were all set and ready for the task they had been waiting for days.

Empty stadiums, distant celebrations, masked substitutes, and the sound of the ball piercing the net, that’s how European football marked its return when Bundesliga continued their campaign after a break of almost two months because of the coronavirus outbreak globally.
