Pop singer Shakira announced her departure from the city of Barcelona by leaving a parting message for her ex-boyfriend Gerard Pique. The artist expressed her gratitude to the city’s citizens for their support and shared her realisation that friendship endured longer than love.
Shakira and Gerard Pique ended their relationship last year after dating for more than ten years. In August 2022, Pique and Claria Chia Marti were first seen together. Since then, the two have been dating. The power couple lived together in Barcelona, directly next door to the defender’s parents’ home.

Shakira says she learned ‘friendship is undoubtedly longer than love’ after split with Gerard Pique
While Gerard Pique has already moved on, with his new girlfriend Clara, the Colombian superstar, in contrast, has concentrated on her career, using her breakup sorrow as motivation to record “BZRP Music Session #53” with Bizarrap. The song went on to become the most streamed Latino song in Spotify ever. It makes fun of Pique and Clara’s relationship and other things.
It has long been rumoured that Shakira will relocate with her sons Milan (10) and Sasha (8). She ultimately accomplished this by departing the Catalan city. Shakira shared a photo of the Barcelona skyline along with the following caption on Instagram:
“I settled in Barcelona to give my children stability, the same that we are now looking for in another corner of the world next to family, friends, and the sea. Today we begin a new chapter in the search for their happiness.
“Thanks to all who They surfed so many waves with me there in Barcelona , the city where I learned that friendship is undoubtedly longer than love. Thanks to everyone who encouraged me there, dried my tears, inspired me and made me grow.
“Thanks to my Spanish audience who have always covered me with their love and loyalty. For you only see you later and as my father said so many times, see you in the curves!”

Shakira apparently received an ‘eviction notice’ from the father of Gerard Pique, and she left Barcelona as a result. After she sang her anti-Pique song on the Jimmy Fallon late-night show last month, Spanish media report that the singer received a letter ordering her and her parents to leave the ex-former couple’s family home.
On Monday, speculation in Spain that the letter was the reason she sobbed in a New York store before flying back to Barcelona was intensifying. The 46-year-old was photographed departing the Catalan city with her two children in order to begin a new life in Florida, but she made no mention of the eviction notice in the farewell message she posted on Instagram.
Her kids Milan, 10, and Sasha, 8, will join her for a few days of holiday in an undisclosed location before they begin classes at a private school just north of Miami on April 11. The Latin music icon will relocate to Miami, Florida to be closer to her family, according to the Catalan publication El Periodico. Meanwhile, Gerard Pique announced his retirement from professional football in January this year.
