Shocking! Manchester United Set To Pay Their First January Signing 34 Times His Current Weekly Wage 1

The Premier League is one of the richest leagues in the world of football and the clubs in the competition have recently set some insane heights for the amount of money spent on transfer targets.

The likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea have spent heavily on their target but one club that broke the transfer record in the summer transfer window is the Old Trafford outfit Manchester United.

Living up to their reputation, the Red Devils coughed up a world record £89m in fees for French international Paul Pogba before the start of the current season, but Mourinho is not done with his spending spree.

He is evidently unhappy with the options at his disposal at the club this season and is looking for some additions in the January transfer window.

Now with the window open, Mourinho is close to signing his first player in Benfica’s Victor Lindelof.

The 22-year old defender has had an impressive time in Portugal playing for Benfica but he has been monitored by Manchester United for sometime now.

The Red Devils were extensively linked with a move for him since the start of December and though it looked like the deal could hit a snag, Manchester United are now not too far away from getting their man to Old Trafford.

It is understood that the Lindelof’s previous club Vasteras, and their demands, were the reason for the holdup but reports today suggest that all such issues have been resolved and that Victor Lindelof is on his way to England.

The 22-year old is making a huge shift in quality, reputation and expectations coming from Benfica to Manchester United but he is also getting an insane pay rise that is hard to comprehend.

To put it simply, Manchester United are paying Victor Lindelof 34 times more than what he was earning in Portugal.

The Red Devils are poised to make a £38m deal for the 22-year old on a contract for 4 years and are expected to pay him £120,000 per week in this time.

Though this figure is nothing compared to the wages of the other players in the team, it magnifies 34 fold when compared to the meager £8,500-a week that Lindelof was earning at Benfica currently.

There is hardly any doubt about the ability of the Swede who is making some waves in Europe but it might be time for the governing bodies to put a limit on these ridiculous numbers.

Do you think Victor Lindelof will be a hit at the Old Trafford?
