Trending: Manchester United star provides a shocking update on his future 1

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera is hopeful of staying at Manchester United for as long as possible. The Spaniard is one of the positives for the club as he has been highly impressive under new manager Jose Mourinho despite their mixed results.

The 27-year old has joined the club in 2014 and has been an important player under former manager Louis van Gaal and has become a fan favorite at the club in no time with his outstanding passing and chances he created in the final third.

The Red Devils have taken the stick in the recent weeks after their poor performances against Liverpool and Chelsea. But they were very good in the EFL Cup clash against Manchester City as they got the much needed victory of 1-0 against their cross-city rivals and the Spaniard has once again stood out with his performance which made the difference on the night.

‘I like these games. When you are a Manchester United player and you know the history of this club, you have to respect the games that are for the fans,’ Herrera told the club website after the game.

‘I feel it like them. I am not English and I am not from Manchester, but I really love this club and I have enjoyed my time here. I don’t want to be just one more player. I want to show that I am very happy here and I want to be here for as long as possible.

‘I have had bad moments here. Last season we lost two or three games in a row before having Chelsea at home and the atmosphere was one of the best. Man United fans are always with the team and not every team can say that.’

Herrera will remain a key player under Mourinho this season and the Spaniard is looking increasingly confident as the season is progressing. Started in the bench at the start of the season, Herrera has turned tables around to ensure he broke into the starting XI and has now become an invaluable part in the midfield for the Red Devils.
