The Gunners have made a sizzling start to their domestic campaign and are now unbeaten after their loss on the opening day against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
Arsenal is currently level on points with Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of the table and Wenger will hope that his side keeps up their good work leading up to a busy festive season in the League.
The manager has been hopeful of keeping his star players in form and has been desperate to get them to sign contract extensions recently. However, the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are no closer to agreeing to terms with the club and this has seen them linked with a move away from the club.
According to Hurriyet, German international Mesut Ozil held secret negotiations with a Turkish club as Arsenal are yet to meet his demands for a new contract.
Having moved to the Premier League back in 2013, the 28-year old has made 125 appearances for the club so far and has grown on to become one of the best players in the League at the moment.
He had the most number of assist in the previous season and has started the new season with a bang, scoring the first professional hat-trick of his career. He will be hoping that his side can compete for silverware this season and to keep up the good form from early this season.
However, reports from Turkish outlet Hurriyet reveal that the German international was away on a 17-hour trip to Istanbul on his recent holiday and was in talks with Turkish giants Fenerbahce over a move for the long term.
Here is an Instagram post from the midfielder from Istanbul:
Though it is not a move that looks like it will happen on the face of it, the German international has in the past revealed his love towards the Turkish club and there were rumors before of Ozil trying to manufacture a move to Fenerbahce.
Speaking to media more than a year ago, Ozil said, ‘In the future, I want to wear a Fenerbahce shirt. It would be an honor,’ he stated last July.’
‘Everyone knows I am a Fenerbahce fan,’ he added.
These comments give more credibility to this rumor and will make Wenger and Arsenal plot a new contract that Ozil cannot refuse.

The 28-year old, as already mentioned, is one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe at the moment and at his age, he has plenty of his career ahead of him. He has not been able to win enough trophies for his troubles but the Gunners provide a better shot at silverware than the Turkish opponents which leaves Ozil with very little reason to leave the club.
But Ozil is a third-generation Turkish-German and if Fenerbahce means so much to him, this might be his last year in the Premier League especially if Arsenal fail to win any trophy this season.
Do you think Ozil will move to Fenerbahce at the end of the season?
