Shocking: Official statement from Real Madrid - Star player out of Copa America due to injury! 1
Real Madrid release official statement on Navas's injury

Real Madrid star goalkeeper and Costa Rica’s No 1, Keylor Navas is set to miss the Copa America Centenario after getting injured. This Monday Costa Rican federation announced that Saprissa goalkeeper Danny Carvajal has replaced Navas for the Copa America.

Real Madrid also launched an official statement on Navas’s injury, stating that the injury is not that serious but the player will have to rest in order to heal.

“After the tests carried out this afternoon on our player, Keylor Navas, at the Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital, he has been diagnosed with an achilles tendinopathy in his left foot,” a statement from the club read. “His recovery will continue to be assessed.”

Costa Rican federation doctors have asked for Keylor’s images, which were taken by Real Madrid’s medical staffs. The Spanish doctors and Costa Rican Federation doctors both have come to an agreement that Navas should be rested as playing him in this tournament will aggravate the chances of a prolonged injury.

“This is the same injury that Navas has had for a year and which has not responded to multiple conservative treatments that he’s had,” Costa Rica’s statement read. Because of that, Real Madrid will determine how they’re going to get a definitive resolution to the case.”

It is not the first time Navas has missed the tournament, he missed the last one too due to injury. Unfortunately, Esteban Alvarado, Costa Rica’s second choice goalkeeper is also out of the Copa America due to a leg injury. There are no other options left for the manager of Costa Rica except for picking up Alajuelense’s Patrick Pemberton, of, and Herediano’s Leonel Moreira, who are domestic based golies.

Oscar Ramirez, Costa Rica coach said: “I think the guys in times like this this they’re able to replace those players, and in this case it’s Moreira or Patrick job to step in,”
