Barcelona have managed to pull off a historic win against French giants Paris Saint-Germain as they became the first club ever to overcome a 4-0 deficit in Champions League.
The Blaugrana have been well appreciated but their win did not come in a non-debatable way as it had a lot of controversial calls from the referee as Deniz Aytekin was one of the major names that did the rounds after the game.
The hosts were dominant from the start as they went to a 2-0 lead but the referee awarded two penalties to Barcelona on the night in which the replays suggested the second penalty was a clear dive from striker Luis Suarez which opened the Barcelona’s comeback in the last 10 minutes of the game.
PSG were also denied a penalty when Javier Mascherano fouled Angel di Maria which would have taken the visitors to 3-2 lead. However, French media outlet Le Parisien have come with a revelation news.
The PSG players often confronted the referee during the game but Deniz have told them “f*** you” at various times during the course of the game. The newspaper revealed that the players were hurt not only by the defeat but also because of the attitude shown by the referee in one of their embarrassing losses.
PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi also told Le Parisien: “You cannot help but think that the result of this match could have been different with clairvoyant refereeing, and more as the competition progresses, there is a lot at stake and the referees need to know it, there is no room for nervousness or lack of lucidity.
Al-Khelaifi added: “Everyone saw the penalty to Di Maria that would have put us 3-2 up. Not to mention the penalty on Suarez.”
Paris Saint-Germain will now look to put their focus on their domestic season as they once again flattered by Barcelona in Round of 16.
