Shocking Update: Arsene Wenger Reveals Arsenal’s January Transfer Strategy 1

Arsene Wenger has revealed Arsenal are unlikely to sign anyone in January but will instead look to nurture players like Danny Welbeck and Santi Cazorla back to full fitness.

The French boss believes there is a dearth of quality available in the winter window and he’s reluctant to spend cash on players who won’t improve the team.

Players such as Juventus star Miralem Pjanic had been tipped for a potential switch to the Emirates during the mid-season window but Wenger played down talk of anyone new arriving.

And he instead wants to utilise his squad and bring players back to health.

When asked who will be coming in in January, he replied: ‘Nobody.

“For us, the best way would be to get Cazorla back, to get Danny Welbeck back.

“There’s little hope of finding players of that quality in January.”

Welbeck is not far away from a return to action and could feature against Preston in the FA Cup.

However, Cazorla is thought to be someway off full fitness after surgery and Wenger hinted his progress has slowed in recent weeks.

Arsenal came back from 3-0 down to draw against Bournemouth, but the rescued point shouldn’t distract from the bigger issue at hand: Arsenal were awful and they were lucky not to go home empty-handed.

If they’re going to mount any sort of title challenge or even ensure they’re in Champions League next year, they can’t afford the kind of display they put on for 70 minutes against the Cherries.

The Premier League title can’t be won in January, but it definitely can be lost, and if the Gunners keep putting in performances like they did in the first 70 minutes against the Cherries, they can kiss any hopes of lifting the trophy goodbye well before May rolls around.
