Sony Norde recommends Haitian international defender to Mohun Bagan
Mohun Bagan club, in spite of having registered Brazilian defender Gustavo, is all set to bring another defender before their engagement in the ongoing Kolkata Premier League comes to end. The name of the new defender is Judelin Aveska. He is from Haiti and more importantly, the defender is being roped in following recommendation from Sony Norde, the Haitian striker who had a major contribution in Mohun Bagan’s maiden I-league triumph after it won National League 13 years ago. Mohun Bagan officials seem to be frustrated with Gustavo as the Brazilian defender is taking much time to gain the fitness level to play a competitive match. That is why in a bid to rope in a quality and fit foreign defender the club officials had contacted Norde for his recommendation. The 27-year-old Aveska who had represented River Plate youth squad in 2007-2008 has reportedly shown consistency with his national team in the recently held CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Mohun Bagan officials informed they have already received the copy of International Registration & Transfer Certificate (IRTC) of the player. Now they need the green signal from the Union sports ministry and the Union ministry of external and foreign affairs. The club officials claimed that they had already an informal talk over the issue on 22nd August when Union sports minister Sarbanand Sonowal came to attend Mohun Bagan’s 125th celebration function in Kolkata. And the Union sports minister has also reportedly promised the officials that he would try his best so that the new defender could arrive in Kolkata as early as possible. According to Mohun Bagan officials, Aveska might arrive in Kolkata by the end of this week.
On the other hand, Mohun Bagan club officials are likely to appeal to the All India Football federation (AIFF) to include Mohammedan Sporting in the elite I-League this season if ultimately Pune FC sticks to its point of pulling out of the I-League. At the same time, the state football association of Jammu & Kashmir is also planning to make appeal to the AIFF to allow Kashmir Lone Star FC in the elite I-League this season if Kalyani Bharat FC also does not participate in the I-league like Pune FC in the coming I-League. Kashmir Lone Star was the second placed team in the second division I league last season.
