Sony Norde mesmerized by Anelka's down-to-earth attitude in FC Mumbai City

Sony Norde does not want to give any importance to Mohun Bagan’s failure in winning the recently concluded Kolkata Premier League football tournament. The Haiti striker, who had a major contribution in Mohun Bagan I-league title last season, is now busy in training with FC Mumbai City for the forthcoming Indian Super League (ISL). Norde said, “We lost in the Kolkata Premier League also in the last season. So, failing to win the Kolkata League does not mean that we will also fail to perform in the I-League this decision also. We have a better side this season.”

Sony Norde, who is likely to renew his contract with Mohun Bagan within a couple of weeks for the ongoing season, however, looked mesmerized by the attitude of his FC Mumbai City coach legendary footballer, Nicholas Anelka. Norde added stating, “Anelka is so down to earth in behavior and attitude that it will be difficult to admit that he was one of the World football’s best strikers in his time.”

Norde who has also scored a few goals in FC Mumbai City’s preparatory matches recently, remembered saying, “When I scored a goal against Air India in our one of the preparatory matches, having dribbled past a few players, Anelka patted me after the match clarified how I should apply the skill in the competitive matches when I would be playing in the ISL. He was so kind that I could not simply imagine that I would get required tips from a World Cupper.”

Norde however, is extremely optimistic on the performance of his friend Judelin Aveska for Mohun Bagan this season. The national striker of Haiti who also had an impressive show in the recently concluded Concacaf Gold Cup, stated, “He is a truly quality defender. It might take a couple of weeks for him to regain the fitness. Then he will only bring a smile for Mohun Bagan fans this season.” On the only issue, Norde seemed frustrated when the discussion was raised that Mohun Bagan was humbled 0-4 by East Bengal in the season’s first derby this season. Norde commented, “It has been unfortunate that Mohun Bagan had to play with most of the new and immature players who never participated in a derby match. But the season has not been over. Let us see whether we can give them a reply after joining.”
