The Barclays Premier League this season has been highly unpredictable and there have not been teams that have consistently ruled the league for more than a month.

Ronald Koeman of Southampton was awarded the manager of the month for the month of January in the Barclays Premier League this season. This is his third monthly award and it comes on the back of impressive victories over Watford, West Brom and Manchester United.

Though the Saints started the month with a defeat against he Canaries, they came back to win three consecutive matches and climbed to the seventh place in the Premier League table.

They continued their good form with a point from the first game this month against title-chasing Arsenal who were held to a 0-0 draw at the Emirates on Tuesday.

The other managers who were in contention for the awards are Manchester City’s Manuel Pellegrini, Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino.

The 3-0 victory over the Baggies will have given the squad a lot of confidence and Koeman will now plan to keep up the good work till the end of the season and hopefully, get his team to play in Europe next season.

Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk was nominated for the player award, which was won by Manchester City star striker Sergio Aguero who scored five goals in four league games.

Southampton now face the Hammers in their next game and with no more cups to worry about, Ronald Koeman will have to back his record in January up with a good run of results in the Premier League.
