Spectacular goals throughout these years have always had a special place in the memory bank of every football fan. Whether it was the famous Cantona’s chip, Zidane’s spectacular volley in Champions League Finals or the solo run of Ronaldo in Barcelona colors, we all have cherished such moments. With each passing year the beautiful game gives us some breathtaking goals and 2013-14 was no different and it served us well with its own set of spectacular goals, below are the Top Five picked up from a bucket full of goals scored.
James Rodriguez (Colombia v Uruguay, 2014 FIFA World Cup)
The Colombian stock was rising even before the World Cup Finals in Brazil, but he ensured that he grabbed the headlines with his spectacular display. He was the driving force behind Colombia’s great run in the World Cup in the absence of the goal machine Falcao. His spectacular control and a follow-up thunderous volley against a potent Uruguay helped them with an entry to Quarter Finals and his goal was also voted the best goal of World Cup in a poll which saw a participation of 4 million voters.

Robin Van Persie (Spain v Netherlands, 2014 FIFA World Cup)
If there was ever a goal meant to be captured by the shutter bags this would top the list. In the World Cup match where Holland decimated the 2010 World Champions Spain, this goal was the best captured moment of the match (if not the entire World Cup). A terrific ball from Daley Blind gave Van Persie an opportunity to run behind the defenders and he could only head it to score and he did all so well to score a smashing goal.
Marco Fabian (Cruz Azul v Puebla, 2014 Clausara, Mexico)
As Football is a contact sport we all like the brutal force, flying tackles, goals shattering the goal post but the guile with which a goal is scored with a chip while the goalkeeper is not on his line always looks like a dream. Marco Fabian’s goal against Puebla was one such goal and yes it did remind us the great goal scored by the legendary Eric Cantona (sans the celebration).
Pajtim Kasami (Crystal Palace v Fulham, Premier League)
The Former Fulham midfielder probably scored once in a lifetime goal when he hit the back of the net with an unstoppable dipping volley from the edge of the area. This was the only Premier League goal to be selected in the FIFA Puskas Award for 2014 and the scorcher surely deserved its place on the list.
Tim Cahill (Australia v Netherlands, 2014 FIFA World Cup)

Tim Cahill had a great run in English Football, with his stint with Millwall and then with Everton. He was instrumental in putting David Moyes led Everton achieve their best run in Premier League Era. His thunderous volley against Holland couldn’t help his team in winning, but surely helped him leave a trademark Tim Cahill goal in the record books.
