Sportzwiki Yearly Review 2016: Top 5 Foreign Players in Premier League

Premier League is known to get the best quality from all around the world as the league has the charisma to attract the best. Most of the star players in the English Premier League have been from the other countries as the clubs always prefer to buy the talent from the other European Leagues.

Here we look at the five best foreign players in the Premier League in 2016.

#5. Dimitri Payet

The French midfield maestro is arguably the best player during the second half of the last season as he managed to impress everyone wit his brilliant free scoring and creativity in the final third.

However, he remains an integral part of West Ham which is struggling to get points this season as he eyes a transfer away from the London club.

#4. Diego Costa

The Spaniard has been in the form of his life this season under Antonio Conte as he already scored 13 goals this season in which 6 were winners for the Blues.

Despite having a quiet season till April based on his standards, the 28-year old came out on top in the second half of the year as he mesmerised Blues fans in their 11 game unbeaten run going into the boxing day game against Bournemouth.

#3. Roberto Firmino

The Brazilian striker has made impressive progress ever since Jurgen Klopp took over as Liverpool manager last year. He has been more than just goals and assists to Liverpool as his impressive runs into the defence has opened up space for his fellow attackers.

Firmino has played a huge role in the Liverpool’s incredible goal scoring form this season as the Reds are the leading goal scorers in the Premier League.

#2. Riyad Mahrez

The Algerian was the engine for Leicester City’s attack last season as he helped the Foxes to win their first ever Premier League title in their 132-year history. His efforts have also won him Premier League Player of the Season Award for 2015/16 season.

However, the star midfielder has seen a huge dip in form which meant Leicester are languishing in the bottom half of the table this season.

#1. Alexis Sanchez

The Chilean have been the best player for Arsenal over the past two years as he has impressed in attack and has created chances at will.

However, Alexis has been given a more central role this season which has seen him score 12 goals in the league so far and have been by far their best player this season and have also been the best player in the Premier League for the year 2016.
