Brazil star Gabriel Jesus has finally arrived in Manchester after completing his £27million transfer from Palmeiras. The highly-rated striker, who played an important role in Brazil’s triumph campaign in Summer Olympics, will be a huge boost for City who are struggling to keep their title hopes alive. Third-ranked City are currently 7 points behind table-toppers Chelsea and could be 10 points behind them if the league leaders win against Tottenham on Wednesday.
In 2016, the 19-year-old played a key role in helping Palmeiras win their first league title since 1994. The performance saw him getting a call-up from the national squad.
With Sergio Aguero struggling upfront, Jesus is likely to be thrown into action straightaway. Pep Guardiola might include him in the squad for the FA Cup tie at West Ham on Friday, or the league game at Everton on January 15.
He said: “We’re going to see. I don’t think we’re going to need to spend too much time to get him fit.”
The youngster is also eligible to play in the Champions League since his deal was agreed in summer.
Meanwhile, the striker is also excited to work with Guardiola.
He said:“The manager seemed like a great person. Everyone knows his coaching quality but the character is more important.
Jesus revealed the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach has been in constant touch with him.
Jesus said:“Our first meeting was good. He’s a technician who likes Brazilians. He gave me a plan. Since he first called me, our contact has been very good.
“Guardiola gave me a hard time, saying I can’t drink Coke. I don’t even like it!”
