Stats Uncovered: The worst defensive team in Premier League this season so far

With another international break now upon us, it is the perfect time to take stock of how the Premier League teams are faring.

It is Manchester City who lead the table after seven games with 18 points, while Tottenham Hotspur are hot on their heels with 17 to their name.

Arsenal and Liverpool make up the rest of the top four while it is Everton and Manchester United who fill out the top six.

Things have not gone so well for Sunderland, Stoke City and West Ham United, who all make up the bottom three.

It is Bournemouth who have won the fewest tackles so far with just 78, around 11 a game, while West Ham are second on 80 and Burnley and Chelsea are joint third on 84.

In that Cherries line-up, it is Harry Arter who is the top tackler with 2.29, Lewis Cook has two and Charlie Daniels and Simon Francis have both managed 1.57.

Stoke have the worst tackling accuracy, though, with a score of 68% so far. Swansea City, Manchester City and Hull City have a score of 67%.

INTERCEPTION WON

Liverpool are the worst team in interceptions, posting just 68, but Everton are a close second with 69. Tottenham are third on 71.

In that Reds line-up, it is captain Jordan Henderson who has the most interceptions won with 12 while Nathaniel Clyne is second on ten.

Southampton have won the fewest defensive duels with a total of 327 and Hull have won the fewest aerial duels with just 79.

Burnley have managed the fewest ball recoveries (381), Crystal Palace are second on 389 and Middlesbrough are third on 390.

Hull have conceded the most chances to their opponents, 161 so far, Sunderland sit second having given away 130 and Burnley are in third (121).

It is West Ham who have conceded the most goals, though, 17 so far, while Stoke (16) and Hull (14) are the second and third most porous defences.
