The Golden Boy is an award that is given by sports journalists to a young football player from Europe perceived to have been the most impressive during a season. All nominees must be under the age of 21 and play in a European nation’s top tier.

After Mario Gotze , Isco , Paul Pogba in 2011,12,13 respectively its time for the young beast from England that is Raheem Sterling. Sterling has been elected as Golden boy of 2014 .He has won this award against the long and talented pool of 40 young men from europe who had made their mark in european football.

Raheem sterling the jamaican boy who plays  as a winger and attacking mid fielder for Premier league club Liverpool and the England National team. He began his career at QPR before signing for Liverpool in 2010. He represented England at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-19 level before being capped at full level by the national side in 2012, and performed at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. 

The 20-year-old was still a teenager until 12 days ago yet experienced a remarkable calendar year of progress that included a Barclays Premier League title race with his club and recognition at the World Cup with his country.

Its is a fact that sterling was one of the best players in liverpool’s side which finsihed 2nd last season  .His  credentials hav been tested  at Champions League level this season and evolving into a versatile attacker capable of leading the front line.

His performance hav always been in a high note . He is the only player in the present liverpool team who is giving all of him to win the match with this attitude he has impressed his coach Brendon Rodgers.

It’s a great achievement to win such an award,” Sterling told Liverpool’s official website. “It’s a really happy feeling for me and my family, of course.

“Something I’ve always wanted to do is to work hard playing football and try to be recognised. I’m really grateful that people have shown me this recognition.

“It’s down to hard work. I’m really happy that people are recognising that I’m trying to work hard and do my best for this football club. I’m really grateful for this award.”

He becomes the first Reds player and only the second Englishman to be named the winner, following Wayne Rooney in 2004, while fellow Anfield forward Mario Balotelli was the budding talent chosen four years ago.
