Steven Gerrard Set To Rejoin Liverpool In A Major Role 1

According to reports, Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard is all set to return to his boyhood club as an academy coach. Ever since Gerrard’s contract with LA Galaxy expired, speculations have been rife about his future and retiring from professional football after declining a coaching role with MK Dons, there are speculations he is all set to join his former club.

English news outlet The Telegraph has reported the former England international is still doing his UEFA A licence with the help of Liverpool staff. The report claimed that Gerrard retired after finding it tough to turn down an opportunity to join the Merseyside outfit.

The former Liverpool skipper also expressed his desire of becoming a manager and told BT Sport: “In the future, I definitely have dreams and aspirations of having a go at management or assisting the manager and being back involved with the dressing room but I’ve got many, many years to do that.

“I’m excited about the future and feel I still have a lot to offer the game, in whatever capacity that may be,” he added.

The rumors have gathered more steam after Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said the door is always open for the club’s longest-serving captain of all time.

Klopp said:“The door is always open for him. From our side if he wants to make a rich career after his (playing) career we want to help him.It is clear that one day in the future there will be something to announce.”

Meanwhile, when on Thursday the Reds boss was asked to comment on the player’s future, he said:“Nothing is decided at the moment. Obviously no one can wait for the moment. Don’t make the period more difficult until something is to be announced.”
