Steven Gerrard’s Phone Call Made Me Decide to Join Rangers – Borna Barisic

Just months after becoming the manager of Rangers, Steven Gerrard has made his presence noticeable. The former Liverpool legend convinced Croatia player Borna Barisic to join Rangers.
Barisic joined Rangers for a reported fee of £2.2 million.
Barisic played as a left back for Croatia national team and managed to play only three games. The 25-year player couldn’t impress in the national team, and the downfall started from there.
However, Barisic is now gearing up for a new challenge after completing a reported £2.2 million to the Glasgow giants. And Gerrard’s presence in the sideline will be beneficial for the Croatia defender to gain back the lost confidence. Barisic told Goal,
“The club, the coach and the fans, they all wanted me, and that made me decide to join Rangers. Although I had offers from England, Italy and France. After our second match versus Rangers in the Europa League, I received a call from an unknown number, and the man said, ‘Hello, my name is Steven Gerrard!’
The player couldn’t think of any option other than saying yes after the Liverpool legend offered him to join his side.
“It was amazing! I immediately told him it was an honour for me even to talk to such legend, and yes, I would like to join him in Glasgow. As I arrived, he welcomed me and told me to be ready to make my debut this weekend. And on social networks, I have received thousands of welcoming messages from Rangers fans.”
Rangers’ bitter Glasgow rivals Celtic start, as overwhelming favourites to win their eighth consecutive Scottish Premiership title. They kicked-off their 2018-19 league campaign with a 1-1 draw against Aberdeen. They will face St. Mirren at home in their next game on Sunday.
