Stoke City will be up to splurge this January transfer window as the period starts in a matter of three days. The club is set to splash the cash in the transfer window if they find their right choice of player. Xherdan Shaqiri was bought by the club this summer.

It was a record breaking transfer at Stoke. The deal amounted to £21 million. Mark Hughes says Stoke will splash the cash in January if the right player becomes available.

“There is no urgency to act in the window. We have had conversations to ask about availability. Whether we act remains to be seen,” he said.

“The whole range of quality players that could be on offer in the summer isn’t always the case in January.

“You have to be ready to move quickly, which we are. If the right player becomes available then we will be ready to act.”

Stoke City defeated the English giants Manchester United lately and gained status. The club is currently 10th in the league and hasn’t given up on its chances of a top 4 spot.

Mark Hughes said, ‘’it is fantastic to see the likes of Leicester up there, and ourselves – we are trying to have a go. Crystal Palace, West Ham, teams like that – we are in the top half, and we are there on merit. All teams such as ourselves are going into games thinking we will back our ability against anybody and see how far it takes us.

“Up to this point we have been really encouraged by what we have produced and we just have to keep it going. We know we can beat anyone in this league, although there are a lot of teams who will say exactly the same. So it is about having that consistency, and if we can get that, who knows where we can go?”
