The January transfer window has barely slammed shut and talks about summer reinforcements are already in the air. Perhaps it is a chance for clubs to right the wrongs of January and move forward with a hope of tying up everything in the summer. Here we look at the possible summer signings for Tottenham.

  1.      BRUNO MARTINS-INDI (Feyenoord)SUMMER SHOPPING: Tottenham Hotspur 1Whether or not interim boss Tim Sherwood remains in his position next summer, Tottenham look like they need major restructuring of their defense. Michael Dawson has been hopelessly exposed all season long, with embarrassing consequences at that. The club captain might be the inspirational vocal chord of his team, but he certainly doesn’t lead from the front. What Tottenham need is a quick, strong center back and in Martins-Indi, they have the perfect specimen. Martins-Indi is already an established Dutch international and is available on the relative cheap. Tottenham need to move quick or else his stock could rise after the World Cup finals.
  2.      DOMENICO CRISCITO (Zenit St Petersburg)Luke Shaw might be bridge too far Spurs, but one man who can solve their problem left-back position is the experienced Italian Domenico Criscito. Tottenham made a huge blunder by not signing any left-back after letting Benoit Assou-Ekotto go on loan to QPR. The diminutive Criscito will bring with him experience at the very top of the game, having played in the Champions League as well. Money won’t be a huge problem as Criscito isn’t the most in-demand player around and Spurs could do a lot worse than signing him.
  3.      KEVIN VOLLAND (Hoffenheim)SUMMER SHOPPING: Tottenham Hotspur 2After emptying the coffers for the less-than-impressive Roberto Soldado last summer, Spurs won’t be looking to spend big on the likes of Christian Benteke. Perhaps they’ve got their solution in Hoffenheim’s exciting, young German starlet Kevin Volland who could be available on the relative cheap. The departure of Jermain Defoe to Toronto FC has cleared up room for one more striker and Volland could do a lot of learning at Spurs from the experienced duo of Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor. Worth a punt, but whether they could get him considering his high demand is the big question.
