Major League Soccer has grown considerably over recent years and the quality of America’s top division is improving season on season.
David Beckham’s move to LA Galaxy back in 2007 undoubtedly helped increase the appeal of MLS. Since then, a number of top stars have chosen to ply their trade in the league, including Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Andrea Pirlo, David Villa and Kaka.
In November 2014, it was revealed that MLS is the eighth-best attended league (in terms of average attendances) in the world, above the top leagues in both Argentina and Brazil, with a total of 6.1 million fans turning up to 323 matches.
That number continues to increase each year and perhaps, one day, football – or soccer, if you will – will find itself catching the likes of ice hockey, basketball, baseball and even American Football in the popularity stakes.
We’re still some way off that happening but the sport is undoubtedly becoming more popular in the States – and having star players from Europe and American helps increase the league’s quality and, subsequently, it’s appeal.
But when top players see this next video, it might make them think twice about signing up for a move to an MLS club.
To celebrate the release of the new Power Rangers movie, MLS managed to get a few of the league’s stars to act, well, like Power Rangers.
Remember the start of Power Rangers where each member put their hands together and shouted out the name of a dinosaur or animal?
MLS thought it’d be a good idea for some of the players – including Kaka! – to do their own version.
And this is what it looks like…
