Target Identified – Manchester United look to sign phenomenal right-back in coming days
Manchester United have identified Everton’s right-back Seamus Coleman as their prime target after missing out on several players in the past. United were previously linked with Nathaniel Clyne and Dani Alves and are desperate to sign a prolific right-back ahead of next season.
Coleman, 26 was previously linked with Manchester United but Everton’s unwillingness to sell their right-back stopped the deal from going forward. However Everton and Manchester United have successfully done business in the past and Louis Van Gaal is hoping to strike a deal for the Irish defender.
Everton have openly stated their desire to sign Adnan Januzaj on loan this summer after signing Tom Cleverly on a free transfer earlier in the month.
According to Sun, Manchester United are thinking to use Januzaj as the leverage in signing Coleman from Everton for an estimted fee of £20million.
Having shifted all their attention on signing central defender, United cannot afford to go another season without an established right-back. Van Gaal had to use Antonio Valencia in the right-back role last season as he did not trust Rafael to be an able player for that role.
United are hoping to be one of the contenders for Premier League title next season and Seamus Coleman could prove to be the difference maker.
Why Coleman is key to United’s plans next season?
Having looked at the comparison between United’s current right-back Valencia, rumored target CLyne who is now a Liverpool player and Coleman who has been linked with a move Old Trafford we will see that Coleman has been more effective in the crucial aspects of the play.
Manchester United are after stability and in Coleman, they will have a player who is constantly fit for the entire season and whose performance never dips. Coleman loves to bomb on and put effective crosses to the box.
Van Gaal’s policy of deploying a conventional right-back or the flying full back, both will be done justice by Everton’s Seamus Coleman.
