After two long weeks without club football, the Premier League is back in action this weekend and has bought some crunch clashes with it to entertain the fans. 11 games into the season, the points table has started to take shape and clubs from around the country will be fighting for each and every points going into the festive season.
The international break always provides some bad news for the clubs with star players picking up injuries and this international break was no different. There are a number of star players missing from games this weekend and here is a roundup of the latest team news for the top 5 clubs for games this weekend:
Manchester United vs Arsenal:
Jose Mourinho revealed that Chris Smalling(toe), Eric Bailly(knee) and Marouane Fellaini(calf) are definitely out for this game while Wayne Rooney and Antonio Valencia (arm) will undergo late scans to understand the extent of the injury. Ander Herrera is available after serving his suspension against Swansea while Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss this game serving a suspension.
Luke Shaw(leg) on the other hand is expected to be back in action alongside Phil Jones who is yet to start a game for the side since January this year.
The Gunners also have a few injury problems to deal with before this game. Santi Cazorla(Achilles) and Hector Bellerin(ankle) are both rule out for this game nursing different injuries. Per Mertesacker and Danny Welbeck remain sidelined alongside Lucas Perez (ankle) who will play no role in this game.
Alexis Sanchez, however, declared himself fit for this game and will start on the night alongside Mesut Ozil and Theo Walcott both of whom are fit to play. Carl Jenkinson is expected to take Bellerin’s place at the back.
Crystal Palace vs Manchester City:
Pep Guardiola will be ecstatic after all his players on international duty made it back to the club without any new injuries. Skipper Vincent Kompany(precaution) withdrew from the Belgium squad complaining of an injury but he is back in training and fit to start this game against Palace.
Midfielder Fabian Delph(groin) remains sidelined but right-back Bacary Sagna could return to action after nursing his hamstring injury.
Southampton vs Liverpool:
The Reds were devastated with a couple of injury blows to first team players coming back from the international break. Adam Lallana (knock) limped off in England’s friendly against Spain and will not be available for this game while Philippe Coutinho (hamstring) who is just back from international duty underwent late scans and might not be risked for this game.
Danny Ings, Joe Gomez, Sheyo Ojo and Mamadou Sakho are far from a place in the first team for this game.
Middlesbrough vs Chelsea:
The former Italian manager has a few decisions to make ahead of this trip to the Riverside. Star striker Diego Costa withdrew from the national side with a groin injury but returned to training o Wednesday. He remains the only fitness concern for the starting lineup for this game as Eden Hazard seems to have shrugged off a niggle he picked up in training with the national side.
Kurt Zouma and Cesc Fabregas are also back fit for this game but it is hard to see either of them make it into the starting XI for this game.
