Every season, clubs from all over the world compete in a number of competitions. It is not easy for every club to compete on all the levels. Teams which have players fighting for the same positions often end up being successful in more than one competition. The squad for a team competing in European competitions needs to be even stronger if they want to have their best players playing day in and day out.
Here is a list of 5 clubs competing in Europe who have tremendous depth in their squad –
Bayern Munchen (Germany):
The Bundesliga giants, Bayern Munchen have one of the strongest squads in the whole of Europe. They made some excellent buys in the transfer window. Arturo Vidal and Douglas Costa have both added to the charisma of the team in the absence of Arjen Robben and Frank Ribery due to injuries. The team never looked like they are missing the number of players they actually are due to injury.
They have a wealth of mid-fielders which is their strongest link in the team. They usually have a lot of competition for places within the squad and for the manager Pep Guardiola, this is a happy headache. Munchen with this squad can beat most teams in Europe and will be eyeing the prime prize.
Manchester City (England):
The biggest money spenders in the Barclays Premier League, Manchester City have accumulated one of the most star studded line-ups. Manager Manuel Pellegrini did some serious business in the transfer market as he bought in some of the brightest talent on display in Europe. Raheem Sterling from Liverpool, Kevin de Bruyne from Wolfsburg and Nicolas Otamendi from Valencia are the three costliest buys of the club.
These players will fight out for their spots in the starting XI against players like David Silva, Samir Nasri, Jesus Navas and Yaya Toure. Fabian Delph moved to the club from Aston Villa and will provide cover for Fernandinho in the holding mid-field area. The manager will have his hopes high in the season and will need his team to taste success in more than just one front.
Real Madrid (Spain):
The Los Blancos appointed a new manager in the summer. Rafa Benitez who replaced Carlos Ancelotti had a great squad to start with and added some quality during the transfer market. Mateo Kovacic is came into an already start studded midfield. The Real Madrid midfield includes the likes of Toni Kroos, James Rodriguez, Luka Modric and Isco.
The Manager will not have a problem of missing starting XI players as the squad has a strong bench strength. This will surely help Real Madrid fight not only in the domestic circuit but also in Europe.
Manchester United (England):
Another big spending club, Manchester City from the Barclays Premier League spent loads of money in the summer transfer window. They also got rid of a number of players but still are a formidable outfit. Bastian Schweinteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin, Memphis Depay, Anthony Martial and Matteo Darmian have all arrived at the club with big price tags.
The players seemed to have gelled as team already and the manager now needs to think on his toes about the players he will play in different competitions. However, he will have a lot of pressure and will need some level of success in this season to justify the transfer activities.
Arsenal (England):
Another club from the Premier League, Arsenal also have a high profile squad with star players in many positions. Arsene Wenger was criticized for not spending any money in the transfer market. The only player to come into the squad this season has been Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech. The manager showed faith in his squad and rightly so.
The squad already has enough depth in the mid-field and attacking positions. Sanchez, Ozil, Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere are some of the star players in the squad. They provide a lot of variety to the game and can help Arsenal have a successful 2015-16 season.
