This is huge: Steven Gerrard set to wear the Liverpool jersey again
Former Liverpool captain and club legend is all set to wear the Reds’ jersey this January.
The talisman has been named in the Liverpool’s legend squad who are all set to take on an Australian legends side in Australian in January. The Liverpool squad includes the likes of Jamie Carragher, Ian Rush, Dietmar Hamann and John Arne Riise.
Legendary former Reds boss Gerard Houllier will be serving as manager of the side.
It is kind of home coming for the Liverpool and England legend even though he will not feature for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
After serving the club for 17 long years, Steven Gerrard left Liverpool at the end of last season and joined Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy. Initially rumours were heard that the midfielder might join the side in January after tge MLS season ends. But Klopp clarified a few weeks back that Gerrard’s possibilty to make a comeback looked bleak and nearly impossible.
But the news of Gerrard wearing a Liverpool jersey again would surely bring joy to the fans.
Regarding the match the 35-year-old midfielder said: “It will be great to play with the official Liverpool FC Legends.
“The squad looks like it’s a great set of lads, it’ll be good to get on the pitch with them. Our fans are the best and to play in front of them again will be emotional, I’m sure.”
Irrespective of which club you support it always makes you happy watching the greats of the game kicking the football again on the pitch. Football fans around the world would have their eyes stuck to the television screen as the Liverpool greats take on the Socceroos legends in the winter.
