Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel could land his next job at Champions League holders Real Madrid, according to El Nacional. The report says the Los Blancos are keen on hiring Tuchel as their president Florentino Perez highly rates the German. While Carlo Ancelotti is still at the helm at Santiago Bernabeu, and fresh from delivering a Champions League and La Liga double Tuchel is being touted as his successor in the future.
Tuchel met the sack at Chelsea after a dismal run of results, which saw him lose against minnows Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League; apparently his last game in charge of the Blues. However, he has left behind his legacy at the club, after guiding them to their first Champions League title since 2012 within six months of his appointment.

Perez impressed with Thomas Tuchel’s Champions League pedigree
Carlo Ancelotti has revived Real Madrid after they lost their talismanic forward Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus in 2018. The Italian took over the job at Santiago Bernabeu in July last year for his second stint. He once again led them to European glory as Real were crowned the Champions League and UEFA Super Cup winners. However, according to multiple reports, Ancelotti is slowing moving towards taking retirement from the game.
The rumours were sparked after Ancelotti announced that this Real Madrid job will be his last one post which he will be bidding farewell to the sport. He said last month:
“Twenty four titles in my career? The truth is that these numbers do not matter to me. I’ll think about that at the end, when taking stock makes more sense. Now I am focused on training; I like the daily work. Until a few years ago, my priority was tactics. Now I focus on human relations, getting to know people and new generations.
“This stage at Madrid will bring an end to my career. After Real Madrid, I will retire. Real Madrid is at the very top of football. It makes sense to call it a day after this experience.”

Florentino Perez as a result has already embarked on the mission to find Ancelotti’s successor. He is impressed with Thomas Tuchel, who has an astute experience in the elite European competition. The German was appointed as the Blues’ boss in January last year, and the club lifted the trophy with the big ears in May, downing hot favourites Manchester City in the final.
Tuchel had also led PSG to their maiden Champions League final in the 2019/20 season, only to stumble against Bayern Munich. Nonetheless, he still has a couple of European titles to his name with Chelsea, and also the Club World Cup. El Nacional adds that there’s still no confirmation from Ancelotti on his exact date of retirement, but its certain that he won’t stay for long.
On the other hand, Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp is also on Perez’s list, but his appointment at Santiago Bernabeu is highly unlikely. He has just penned an extension at Anfield, keeping him at the club through 2026. However, given the poor run of results of the Reds, where they have just 2 wins from 6 games in the Premier League and 4-1 drubbing at the hands of Napoli in the Champions League has raised doubts over Klopp’s position at the club.
