Liverpool
Liverpool should kick-off their summer overhaul with three sales.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool is due to undergo a big revamp this summer, with numerous additions and departures predicted. The massive Liverpool summer rebuilding project is already well started. Anfield has already bid farewell to a few modern-day stars, like James Milner and Roberto Firmino, as well as Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and a slew of new and fascinating names connected with a transfer to Merseyside.

It is not an exaggeration to suggest that this is perhaps the largest and most crucial transfer window of Jurgen Klopp’s tenure, with key additions and departures likely. However, more exits are anticipated than new signings, as the club looks to clear their deadwood. With a number of players’ futures in doubts, here are three members who should be definitely sold by Liverpool.

Liverpool summer clearance – Three players who should be sold

1. Joel Matip

A player with one year left on his contract who has been an excellent servant for the Reds over the last seven years. However, Joel Matip is no longer first-choice at Anfield, and his physical difficulties over the previous year signal it is time to say farewell.

He’ll need to be replaced, and that won’t be simple. At his best, he’s one of the most underappreciated center-backs in the game. His destiny this summer will be determined by the type of bids he receives and the type of player Liverpool can bring in to replace him.

2. Nat Phillips

Nat Phillips, a player who has been unfortunate in losing out on the transfer he requires for quite some time, will almost certainly be leaving Liverpool this summer. The centre-back’s Liverpool career never grew beyond being a cup player, and his minutes were further cut down this season, indicating his time is up at Anfield.

His cost will most likely be lower than it would have been last summer, or even the summer before that, but the 26-year-old needs regular football and will be a more than acceptable acquisition for many teams looking for an old-school center-back.

3. Kostas Tsimikas

It was an emotional finale to the season for Tsimikas, whose tears after the last Anfield game of the season imply a breakup is on the way. To be fair, the Greek is one of the Reds’ players who is both excellent enough to draw interest and of an age where a respectable amount might be demanded if he were to go.

With players like Luke Chambers rising from the academy, Tsimikas might be moved on this summer. Moreover, he might have impressed as a brilliant backup, and even challenged Andy Robertson’s starting spot at times, but Tsimikas simply hasn’t got it when it comes to consistently delivering in the Premier League.
