If there was one profession anyone would love to have is to be a sportsperson, think about it. You get to play a sport every day, when you retire you can become a coach for a team or an individual and then of course there is the money and the women.
Footballers are probably the luckiest of the lot when it comes to money and women, if you look at the astronomical salaries being paid to footballers, it isn’t surprising that they not only have the biggest houses and fastest cars but also get the best women also, not objectifying women by any means but this whole culture of WAGs just proves that footballers get the best looking women.
However men being men just can’t seem to control their greed and lust, often great footballers have been caught out, not only on the field but also off it; here is a list of 10 footballers who were caught cheating. They might be great on the field but off it, they don’t serve as the best of role models.
Ashley Cole
Ashley is now enjoying his time playing in Rome for AS Roma but he was never a liked figure when playing in England especially because he traded loyalty from Arsenal to Chelsea, while switching between rivals is not uncommon, he made it even worse when he shot a student working with an air rifle and then brought out his disgust over Arsenal’s new contract into the media. He decided to make it worse when in 2008 he cheated on Cheryl Cole, singer from the Girls Aloud group, with 3 different women. Cheryl was willing to let bygones be bygones but she later filed for divorce when 4 more allegations of cheating surface. It’s hard to imagine why Ashley would do something like this, especially to Cheryl.
Ryan Giggs
Probably one of the best wingers ever to grace the game and the Premier League, Giggs didn’t cover himself in glory when it emerged that he had an 8 yearlong affair with his brother Rhodri’s wife Natasha, this came out in 2011. It was more shocking to see that his wife was willing to reconcile with Giggs after it emerged that he also had an affair with TV star Imogen Thomas. His wife was willing to move on and stay with Giggs, while his brother and father have called him a cheat and a liar.
Wayne Rooney
The England and Manchester United captain hasn’t been the best and most committed person off the field. He married his childhood sweetheart Coleen in 2008 but there were reports that in 2004 an 18 year old Rooney was having an affair with a prostitute, a grandmother who was 48 years old. That might have been in the past but in 2010 more reports came out when Rooney, who was expecting his first child with Coleen reportedly had a threesome with two prostitutes who sold the story to a newspaper, cue that and Rooney’s form fell and so did the public’s perception about him.
John Terry
Chelsea legend he may be but he was stripped of captaincy for England in 2010 when it emerged that he was cheating with Wayne Bridge’s girlfriend Vanessa. The story was reported by a couple of newspapers but they were not allowed to publish it until a court lifted the order. Although the papers issued an apology to John the damage was already done and this led to the frosty hand shake snub when Bridge faced Terry as Chelsea hosted Manchester City at Stamford Bridge. While John has stuck with his wife Toni and has two children with her, he hasn’t done much for people to dispel his public enemy number 1 tag
Olivier Giroud
Giroud might be one of the best looking footballers, especially with his magazine cover but he was one of the latest footballers to be left embarrassed when pictures of him in nothing but a pair of underwear snapped by another woman. Giroud did apologize for the picture and denied sleeping with the model Celia Kay at that time to his wife Jennifer, fortunately Jennifer has accepted Giroud’s version of the story but surely there is more than what Giroud said, surely.
Cristiano Ronaldo
The best player in the world currently hasn’t been the most loyal person off it, right now he is dating Russian model Irina Shayk but he has been playing the field quite well. During his days at Manchester United he was dating Gemma Atkinson, rumours then spread about Gemma cheating Ronaldo with then team mate Alan Smith. Then pictures were found of him kissing Bollywood star Bipasha Basu but that didn’t last long either. Recently there were rumours of him cheating with Andressa Urach, a Brazilian model but Ronaldo has denied those claims, of course he would.
Peter Crouch
The Stoke City forward is married to Strictly Come Dancing winner Abbey Clancy but once he said that he would been a virgin had he not succeeded in football, rumours of him cheating with an 18 year old prostitute came to light at a stag party in Madrid, that too when the couple were expecting their first baby. This came out in 2010 but it seemed the story was so ludicrous that Abbey didn’t believe him, the two did eventually tie the knot but no one knows what Crouchie was thinking that night in 2010.
Ronaldo
The original Ronaldo, El Fenomeno is probably one of the greatest strikers to ever grace the game. Ronaldo was fast, strong and had a keen eye for goal; he has won everything there is to win in football. Things got really bad for Ronaldo in 2008 when he was recovering from an injury; he wanted to have a fun time in a hotel room and called up 3 prostitutes. Police were then called when too much noise was coming out from the room, it got worse for Ronaldo when he decided to have a go at the 3 as he found out that they were transvestites. Ronaldo was freaked out about the incident but think about his girlfriend.
Franck Ribery
The Bayern Munich and France winger might be one of the best players in the world right now but in 2009 things took a nasty turn for the winger turned swinger. Ribery was married to his wife Wahiba for 5 years but he along with Karim Benzema and Sidney Govou decided to have a bit of fun with Zahia Deher a prostitute, the news became worse for the trio when it emerged that Deher was only 16 years at the time, underage and that was illegal in France. Although Deher came out saying that the players did not know her age at the time, it did leave Franck in hot water with his wife.
Mauro Icardi
The Argentine striker caused a huge rift between himself and Argentine player Maxi Lopez, the then 21 year old striker decided to get cosy with Maxi’s wife Wanda Nara who is a big TV personality in Argentina. This caused Maxi and Wanda to split, which is bad enough, then Mauro married the 30 year old and just to rub salt into the wound, Mauro got the tattoo of Maxi’s children tattooed on his body, I guess there is a special place for people like Mauro, a very dark place indeed.
