The Barclays Premier League is host to one of the best talents in Europe and has produced some extra-ordinary moments in the recent times. The year 2015 has also produced some brilliant eye catching goals from top class players.
From 600 goals in 380 Premier League matches in the year, we have narrowed it down to 10 but could not decide the best of the lot. Try and decide which of these top 10 goals is the best in 2015.
1. Phillipe Coutinho (Liverpool) vs Southampton; February:
The Brazil magician produced a moment of pure brilliance as he stuck from 40 yards out in the 2-0 victory at St Marys last season. The keeper had no chance as the ball snuck into the net off the cross bar after taking a late dip.
2. Matt Phillips (QPR) vs Crystal Palace; March:
In a losing cause playing 3-0 down at the Selhurst Park, Matt Phillips pulled off the best goal of his career as he beat the keeper with a shot just 10 yards away from the mid-line. The shot was too powerful for the home keeper as he was left helpless.
3. Juan Mata (Manchester United) vs Liverpool; March:
In one of the fiercest battles between two English giants, Spanish International Juan Mata pulled out a bicycle kick to put Manchester United 2-0 up at Anfield. Playing a one-two with Di Maria, Mata found loads of space in the penalty box and pulled off the spectacular.
4. Charlie Adam (Stoke City) vs Chelsea; April:
Playing against a team that was close to winning the title, Stoke City were a goal down at the Stamford Bridge but found an un-likely equalizer from a scorcher from Charlie Adam. Picking up the ball in front of his penalty area, Adam stuck a volley hoping to catch Courtois off his line and his gamble paid off as he leveled the score with an amazing goal.
5. Jermaine Defoe (Sunderland) vs Newcastle United; April:
In the tyne-wear derby back in April this year, Newcastle United were holding onto a point in an intense game but lost out to a screamer from Defoe from outside the penalty box. He latched onto a header from Fletcher and smacked home a volley that will make even the best strikers proud.
6. Christian Benteke (Liverpool) vs Manchester United; September:
In this season’s United vs Liverpool game, Manchester United were running away with the game with a 2-0 lead at Old Trafford but Christian Benteke pulled one back for the visitors with a superb bicycle kick from nowhere. A lazily dunk in ball was enough for the Belgian forward to give Liverpool a goal in his fixture.
7. Matt Ritchie (AFC Bournemouth) vs Sunderland; September:
The Cherries had an excellent start to their campaign this season and ran away 2-0 winners against Sunderland in September. Matt Ritchie scored an incredible volley 40 yards away from goal. He showed great technique to chest the ball and volley it into the top corner out of the reach of the keeper.
8. Jermain Lens (Sunderland) vs West Ham; October:
In one of the rare games that the Black Cats took all three points from, Jermain Lens produced a moment of magic as he latched onto a defensive error and chipped it over the keeper from outside the penalty box. His touch and imagination in the finish were commendable.
9. Lee Chung-Yong (Crystal Palace) vs Stoke; December:
Coming in as a substitute late in the second half in a mid-table battle between Crystal Palace and Stoke, Lee Chung-Yong smacked home a side footed shot into the side of the net to score the winner on the night. Stoke City were left stunned at home and could not come back after this goal.
10. Xherdan Shaqiri (Stoke City) vs Everton; December:
In a see saw match that ended in a 4-3 victory for Stoke, Shaqiri scored one of the best goals in the year. He latched onto a long ball from Bojan from the mid-field and nonchalantly lifted the ball on the volley over Tim Howard into the top right corner. It was a moment to savor for the Swiss International.
