It is that time of the year where people all around the world are celebrating one of the most awaited festivals this year. The Christmas period is always a busy time even in the world of football with clubs around the world trying hard to walk into the new year on a high note. However, the performances of a club throughout the year do effect their position at the end of the year making this time of the year all the more interesting.

Clubs around Europe have provided some fine entertainment throughout the year with top sides showing their goal scoring prowess every now and then to stun the fans and the media alike. All over Europe, a few clubs have taken the sport to a whole new level and have added an entertainment value to the game that is now attracting more and more fans. With the year 2016 coming to and end, let’s take a look at the most attacking teams in Europe. Here are the 5 most attacking teams in Europe this year:

FC Barcelona:

Luis Enrique’s Spanish side Barcelona, are currently the holders of the La Liga title having pipped rivals Real Madrid to the trophy last season. They have started the new season in fine form scoring for fun and though they are a few points off Real at the top of the table, they have continued to dominate opponents to keep winning late in the year as well. The likes of Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr have been in sublime form this year and are right up there with the highest goal scorers in Europe. Their style of play allows them to score goals in numbers and their finishing ability makes them one of the most attacking teams in Europe.

Real Madrid:

The second Spanish side to make the list, Real Madrid, have scored the highest number of goals in La Liga last season and also this season this year. Zinedine Zidane, who lifted the Spanish outfit to the Champions League in his first year incharge at the club, has got his side to play some exciting football and it has seen them create more chances than most other clubs in Europe. With Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale both enjoying fine years, along with the help of French striker Karim Benzema, Real have scored a high number of goals, dominating their opponents in the league and also in Europe to stand as one of the most attacking teams in Europe.

Bayern Munich:

Though not at their best at the start of the current season, German giants Bayern Munich, who are currently the title holders in the Bundesliga, are easily one of the most attacking teams in world football. With not much competitions in the domestic league, Bayern average more than 2 goals a game in the domestic league this year while their returns in Europe are also a bit similar. Though Pep Guardiola left the club in the summer, Carlo Ancellotti, who took charge of the club this season, has got them to play some sleek football, helping the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Arjen Robben and Douglas Costa to goals galore, making them one of the most attacking teams in Europe.

Borussia Dortmund:

Another German club to make the list, Dortmund, have not felt the wrath of a change in manager as Jurgen Klopp, their most successful coach up to date, left the club before the start of the last season. Tomas Tuchel, who took charge of the club in the summer, took his time to get his methods to rub of on the team and is now enjoying a purple patch. Tuchel has got his team playing to the strengths of the likes of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Marco Reus and Ousmane Dembele and has got all of them to score goals consistently. The high intensity game style that they use has been hard to beat for many a clubs in Europe making Dortmund one of the most attacking teams in Europe.

Liverpool:

Having scored more goals than any other team in England, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, are the only team from the Premier League to make this list. The Reds have been unstoppable since Klopp took over the club and though they missed out in the finals of a couple of trophies, they are well on their way to mount a genuine title challenge. With the likes of Coutinho, Firmino, Mane, Origi, Sturridge and Lallana, all scoring goals consistently since the start of the year, Liverpool have lodged more goals than most other teams in Europe. They are a team that depend on their attacking prowess and having shown some good consistency since the start of the year, they are currently one of the most attacking teams in Europe.
