The new Premier League season has already started and the players who have joined new clubs in this transfer window have already started getting used to their new clubs. The competition has risen to a new level as almost all the teams have made noticeable improvements to their squad. Though the first few games will not tell us how good a player is, there were some who impressed many on their debut.

In this article, we will take a look at the top 5 debutants in the EPL, who have started brightly for their new club –

Georgino Wijnaldum

The £14.5 million transfer from PSV, Wijnaldum started in the centre of the attacking midfield for Newcastle against Southampton in his debut for the club. He looked calm and composed with the ball at his feet and often created space for himself and his team mates. He also grabbed his first goal of the Premier League with a powerful header in the beginning of the second half. The fans of the club sense some exciting days ahead with Wijnaldum in their squad.

Reece Oxford

The 16-year old youth product from West Ham made his Premier League debut for the club on Sunday at the Emirates. The Hammers recorded a surprise 2-0 win against ‘title contenders’ Arsenal after a convincing performance by the club. He is the second youngest starter in the Premier League and impressed everyone on his debut. He was deployed in the holding mid-field position and showed maturity beyond his age against the likes of Ozil, Ramsey and Cazorla in an impressive display of his talents. He is a very bright prospect for the future for the club.

Andre Ayew

In one of the most impressive free transfers of the season, Andre Ayew from Marseille moved to Swansea City of the Premier League. He was highly rated in France and made a great start for his new club. Swansea travelled to the Bridge to take on the holders of the league. Ayew scored the equalizer for the Welsh club, as he slotted past Courtious with ease. He was busy throughout the game and showed his pace and skill to make life difficult for the Chelsea defense. He added pace and purpose to the Swansea attacks and looks to be just the kind of player needed for Gary Monk.

Matteo Darmian

Out of all the high profile buys in this transfer window, the most impressive debut for Manchester United has been the young Matteo Darmian from Torino. The defender who cost United £12.7 million made his debut for the Red Devils with a man of the match performance. He was at ease throughout the game as he added width to the attack in his favored right back position. He also showed grit and determination in the defensive front and made sure he starts his career at the new club with a victory. The 25-year old will be a useful player in the season for the club if he continues to play this way.

Dimtri Payet

West Ham United spent £10.7 million on the French International Dimitri Payet to get him to England from Marseille. Payet started his debut against Arsenal with a lot of pressure and expectations but looked comfortable against the Gunners. He created 135 chances last season, more than any other player in Europe. His speed and composure on the ball along with his vision and ability to produce the killer ball make him one of the most exciting players in the Premier League. The fans after a great start at the Emirates will want the attacking midfielder/winger to produce top notch performances like the last one.

The Premier League is termed the toughest league in the world. So, impressive debuts may not make life easy for any of the players as the season progresses.
