Argentinian players have a way of making themselves cult heroes in English football, adored by their own club’s fans and often hated/secretly admired by opposing supporters.
Here’s at look the five who have scored the most Premier League goals…
5. Maxi Rodriguez – 15 goals
Years Active: 2010 – 2012
Club: Liverpool
Liverpool signed winger Maxi Rodriguez from Atletico Madrid a few months before his second World Cup for Argentina – he had scored a memorable stunning extra-time volley against Mexico in his first World Cup four years earlier.
He went to score 15 goals in just 56 Premier League appearances.
4. Leonardo Ulloa – 17 goals
Years Active: 2014 – present
Club: Leicester City
Leonardo Ulloa arrived at newly promoted Leicester in the summer of 2014 with just one previous season of top flight football to his name since moving to Europe six years earlier.
But the striker was a hit, scoring 11 times in his debut campaign and netting further crucial goals as the Foxes captured the Premier League title in 2015/16.
3. Hernan Crespo – 20 goals
Years Active: 2003 – 2004, 2005 – 2006
Club: Chelsea
Although contracted to Chelsea for five years after joining from Inter in the first summer of the Roman Abramovich era, Hernan Crespo actually only spent two seasons with the club.
That being said, he still scored 10 goals in each, managing that feat in just 19 appearances in his first season. A loan to Milan came in the middle, before a loan back to Inter in 2006.
2. Carlos Tevez – 84 goals
Years Active: 2006 – 2013
Clubs: West Ham United, Manchester United, Manchester City
His transfer to West Ham was a shock, his transfer to Manchester United was shrouded in mystery, his transfer to Manchester City was controversial and his time with Manchester City was even more controversial.
But Carlos Tevez still managed to score 84 goals in seven years as a Premier League player, proving to be an invaluable asset to each of the three clubs he played for.
1. Sergio Aguero – 107 goals
Years Active: 2011 – present
Club: Manchester City
Only England legend Alan Shearer reached 100 Premier League goals in fewer appearances than Sergio Aguero, who needed only 147 games to hit the impressive milestone earlier this year.
Aguero’s most famous goal was of course the one that won Manchester City’s first league title in 44 years with virtually the final kick of the 2011/12 season.
