Cristiano Ronaldo’s quest to win the elusive World Cup once again ended in a heartbreak. However, as far as his performance is concerned, the Portugal superstar is still one of the best in the world.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner helped Real Madrid win their consecutive Champions League title this year, scoring a staggering 15 goals and providing three assists.
In La Liga, he scored 26 goals in 27 games after a slow start. Overall, he scored 44 goals in as many games.
Apart from winning the Ballon d’Or in 2008, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017, he has been named to the FIFPro World XI in 11 consecutive seasons. He also captained Portugal’s run to the title at Euro 2016.
Ronaldo recently left Real Madrid for Juventus after scoring a mind-boggling 449 goals in just nine seasons. In 291 La Liga appearances, he has scored 310 goals. Ronaldo is also the leading goal-scorer in the Champions League.
He also looked in good form in this year’s FIFA World Cup 2018 before Uruguay dumped them out. In the opener, he scored a stunning hat-trick against Spain before scoring the winner against Morocco.
