Tottenham 2-2 Stoke City, Spurs give away two goals lead to pick up just a point
Tottenham Hotspur squanders a two goal lead to Stoke City as they pick up just a point from this crucial encounter at White Hart Lane. Eric Dier and Nacer Chadli found the back of the net in the first half to give the home team a healthy two goals lead. But the Potters came back strongly to equalise in the second half. Marko Arnautovic and Mame Biram Diouf where on target to restore parity for Stoke.
Eric Dier scored a fine header in the 19th minute from Christian Erikson’s corner. Erikson who saw his two shots being saves curled a brilliant crossed which was met by Dier. Dier rose above all and comfortable headed the ball home.
Belgian international midfielder Nacer Chadli increased the lead at the stroke of half time as Harry Kane forwardeda ball to left-back Ben Davies who again curled a pin point cross towards Chadli. The Belgian netted with a brilliant volley.
Marko Arnoutovic scored one back from the penalty spot in the 78th minute. Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld tackled Joselu inside the box. Alderweireld’s tackle was soft but the referee pointed to the spot.
Mame Biram Diouf finally scored the equalising goal within five minutes to restore parity in the game. It was heart breaking for Mauricio Pochettino’s men as they came closer to pick up 3 points. Tottenham now have just a point from the first two games.
