Tottenham have completed their first summer signing as they were able to secure the services of FC Koln central defender Kevin Wimmer. The 22-year is set to sign four year contract for Spurs which will see him at White Hart Lane till 2019.
The signing meant that Spurs made their first step towards rebuilding an organised defense as they failed to secure Chmapions League spot yet again this season mainly due to their defensive flaws.
The North London club has hate worst defensive in the top 10 Premier League teams as they have conceded a mammoth 53 goals in Premier League this season. The addition of Kevin Wimmer gives Spurs more depth in their defense and mmore options for the manager.
Wimmer have confirmed his move to Tottenham despite their failure to secure Champions League football next season as Spurs shelled out £4.3m for the player’s services.
“I go to Tottenham, it is the next step in my development. I don’t mind whether they make the Europa League. I go to Tottenham, to go to the next level,” he said.
The deal is yet to be officially announced as FC Koln spokesperson Frederic Latz said that the play will be sold.
“Kevin will be sold. We can confirm, but for contractual reasons not say where he’s going. The new club do not want that,” FC Koln spokesperson Frederic Latz said.
