Tottenham Hotspur are lining up a £20 Million bid to sign West Brom striker Saido Berahino after their prime target Jay Rodriguez faces a lengthy spell away from the game due to a foot injury, as per the reports from THE SUN and THE TELEGRAPH
Tottenham Hotspur and their striking woes are there for everyone to see and wonder why Spurs have not been able to buy an assured goal scorer in Transfer Windows gone by. Addressing that, Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino looks to sign one of the most exciting prospects to have emerged this season, Saido Berahino.
Berahino exploded on the scene with 8 league goals this season. Berahino’s ability to finish can be seen from the fact that few of those goals came against the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool. Berahino’s USP is that, he rarely wastes chances in the game and he needs only one chance in the game to score the goal.
Tottenham were heavily linked with a move for Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez in the January transfer window but an unfortunate injury meant that he is no longer in the consideration and with struggling Soldado and misfiring Adebayor, Pochettini would love to sign someone like Berahino, who is a natural finisher and can score goals at anytime if asking.
Another of Tottenham’s target, Christian Benteke has been scrapped off the list as he recently pledged his immediate future to his current side Aston Villa and admitted that seeking a move away from villa Park was a mistake.
These incidences have left Spurs with very little option to choose from and Pochettino must take the call quickly as to whom he wants to sign in January Transfer window.
Harry Kane is the only striker who looks like scoring for Spurs currently. Emanuel Adebayor looks certain to leave the club in January on Loan or permanently and with Soldado still finding his shooting boots, Pochettino cannot rely solely on Kane to score in every single game.
Thus a movie for Saido Berahino would make complete sense from spurs and a fee of £20 Million would do a club like West Brom world of good and January will allow West Brom to find a suitable cover for Berahino, if he is indeed sold in the January Transfer Window.
