Tottenham Hotspur vs Chelsea: Preview, Predictions and Betting Odds
Pochettino’s men will play their third consecutive London Derby when they face the Champions of last season in this week’s Barclays Premier League fixture. Tottenham were simply un-playable in their last league game scoring 4 goals against West Ham. They also qualified for the next round of the Europa League and will turn their attention towards the top four places in the league. It will be an important game for Tottenham as they will face the Blues who have finally been able to string two victories together.
Jose Mourinho was under tremendous pressure going into the International break but has won both his games after the break. His team put 4 past the Maccabi Tel Aviv side and are slowly showing signs of confidence. However facing a high energy Spurs side will not be easy in the derby. Here is the preview of the game along with the Team News, Expected Line-ups and Betting Odds.
The Tottenham Hotspur vs Chelsea game will be played on Sunday the 29th of November at the White Hart Lane in London. The kick off is scheduled at 12:00 pm BST (5:30 pm IST).
Pochettino used a relatively strong side in the Europa League game and is expected field his best XI in this derby. Bentaleb and Chadli remain un-available for the home side even as Pritchard is recovering from his ankle injury. The manager will hope that mid-fielder Erik Lamela can prove his fitness before the game.
Jose Mourinho’s side looked in rhythm a in the Champions League fixture and will hope that they can reproduce that performance against the Spurs. Falcao and Courtois are sidelined for the Blues and are still out for a week. Skipper John Terry and Ramires are still doubtful for the game and so is striker Loic Remy who remains un-available due to personal reasons. Expect Zouma to partner Cahill in the centre of the defense for the visitors.
Lloris, Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose, Dier, Mason, Son, Dembele, Eriksen, Kane.
Begovic, Ivanovic, Zouma, Cahill, Azpilicueta, Matic, Fabregas, Willian, Oscar, Hazard, Costa.
Harry Kane vs Zouma:
Kurt Zouma has not really settled into the Chelsea back four in this season. He is a gifted defender who is strong and decisive with his play. He will have to contend with the threat of the in-form forward Harry Kane from Tottenham. Kane started the season slowly but has sprung to life in the last few games. His eye for goal will cause Chelsea plenty of problems and the game’s outcome will depend on how he is handled.
Hazard vs Dier
Eden Hazard has been given a free role behind the striker in the last few games by Mourinho. If that is the case in this game, Eric Dier will have to do a lot of defending to keep the Belgian quite for the game. Hazard looked out of form at the start of the season but has produced some brilliant moments in the last few games. The mid-field battle between these two players can settle this tie.
Tottenham Hotspur: 29/20
Tottenham have played some brilliant football this season and are yet to lose a game after their defeat the Old Trafford on the opening day. They may prove a bit too much to handle for their neighbors in blue but the genius of Mourinho might just pull one out of his hat in this game against the Spurs.
