Transfer blow- Manchester United to miss out on West Ham defender
According to The Sun, Manchester United are set to miss out on West ham young starlet Reece Oxford. The 17-year old has impressed the current manager Slaven Bilic and could break into the first team this season.
Oxford who was on the verge of leaving West Ham earlier in the summer is keen to stay at West Ham as he believes that he could get into the first team this season.
He has impressed the Hammers with impressive performances in pre-season over the summer and the management believes he is making huge progress in his development.
“Reece has developed over the summer. He has been away with England and looks what we have always believed him to be, a player of huge potential.
“It’s obviously down to the manager, but it will be a shock to many if he isn’t a regular first team squad member. He will get his chance at the back this season. We are very excited by the potential in the lad.
“There’s no question his progress was a factor in the decision to let James Tomkins go to Crystal Palace,” a West Ham Insider told The Sun.
The 17-year old has first got a break in West Ham team last season but has failed to pin his spot in the squad but now looks to get back into first tea action. Both Manchester United and Manchester City were interested in the young defender as they value him at £10m.
