Chelsea have signed the former England 38-year-old goalkeeper, Rob Green on a free transfer on Wednesday.
Rob Green will be the 3rd choice goalkeeper for Chelsea.
The 38-year old will provide cover for Thibaut Courtois and Willy Caballero in Maurizio Sarri’s first season in charge of the Blues.
Green represented Huddersfield Town’s books last season. However, he failed to play a single minute of action. Green has now signed a one-year deal with Chelsea to end his career on a high note.
After the done deal, Green told Chelsea’s official club website,
“It has been a whirlwind 24 hours. You are thinking about your career and where you want to go, and then you get a phone call like this, and it is a short conversation. It has been a pretty dramatic time for me, and I can’t wait to get started. I am absolutely delighted, and it is a thrill and an honour to be here.”
Green’s last competitive appearance came in last season’s Carabao Cup for Leeds United. He left for Huddersfield shortly after.
The shot-stopper has a wealth of Premier League appearance. He played for Norwich City, West Ham and Queens Park Rangers in the top flight.

Green has also represented England at two major international tournaments in the past. After making his England debut in 2005 in a friendly against Colombia, Green was named in the squad for the World Cup a year later. Although, injury ruled him out of the competition.
He becomes Chelsea’s second signing of the summer following the earlier arrival of Jorginho from Napoli in a £57million ($86m) deal.
Chelsea are in the middle of their pre-season campaign with fixtures against Inter and Arsenal on the horizon. After that, they will face Manchester City in the Community Shield.
