Transfer Latest: Everton Sign Yerry Mina, Andre Gomes on Deadline Day
Everton had pulled off massive deals on the deadline day in the English Premier League. The club had signed Barcelona duo of Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes. The Portuguese though roped for a season-long loan.
Everton managed to sign three players on the last day of the transfer window.
Barcelona had to pay €30.25m (£27m/$35m), plus potentially another €1.5m in variables for the Colombian defender, Yerry Mina. They have also included a buy-back clause in the deal.
Despite Yerry Mina finding life tough at Barcelona, the defender managed to score three goals at the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia. At Camp Nou, Mina only managed to make five appearances, and he couldn’t live up to the expectations.
However, the centre-back fell even further down the pecking order when Barcelona brought in Clement Lenglet in July. Earlier, Mina was linked heavily since the start of the transfer window, and now a deal finally got finalized.
Manchester United was also linked heavily with the Colombian defender. However, in the end, Everton successfully signed the player on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Andere Gomes’ deal is worth €2.25m, and it will be a season-long loan. The Portuguese midfielder failed to cement a spot in the first team since joining from Valencia in 2016 in a €35 million deal.
Andre Gomes couldn’t make any impression and also was a victim of booing several times from Barcelona Nou fans. Gomes himself revealed his life at Barcelona felt like hell after the first six months.
Mina and Gomes are not the only players who have gone from Camp Nou to Goodison Park in the transfer window. Another Barcelona player, Lucas Digne had also joined Everton earlier in this transfer window.
Everton also signed Bernard from Shakhtar Donetsk and made a big statement on the deadline day of the English Premier League.
