Germany and Bayern Munich’s defender, Jerome Boateng has rejected a move to Manchester United. According to the reports, he had called manager Jose Mourinho and cleared him that he’s not moving to the Premier League.
Jerome Boateng’s extended stay at Bayern Munich continues.
However, it was known that Boateng was all set to end his seven years stay at Bayern Munich. And Bayern President, Heinz Rummenigge had said he would only sell Boateng if any club offers €50 million or more.
The 29-year old defender also expressed he wants a new challenge and right after, he got linked heavily with Manchester United. However, the rumours started to fade away soon, and Boateng is training at the moment with the Bundesliga champions.
Paris Saint-German and Manchester United are the two clubs that showed their interest in the defender. But according to Bild, Jerome Boateng had called Mourinho on Thursday to reject Manchester United. Though, there’s still some chance left for Boateng to join PSG.
The negotiations between Boateng and Man Utd started to break down when the club said they want the player only on a loan deal.
Jerome Boateng has also become an injury-prone player, one of the reasons behind the clubs hesitating to buy him. He suffered muscle and tendon injuries over the past three Bundesliga campaigns. As a result, the Germany international missed 27 games in total since December 2016.
Last season, Boateng suffered a hamstring injury in April. And it almost caused him to miss the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia. Further, he also missed some games at the beginning of the 2017-18 season due to another hamstring problem.
With the transfer deadline getting closed in England in a few hours, Mourinho is running out of time to find a new central defender. Privately, Manchester United believe Harry Maguire is not for sale at Leicester. While there is only some glimpse of hope left to see Yerry Mina coming at Old Trafford.
