FC Barcelona defender Yerry Mina was on his way to Manchester United, according to some reports. But now, negotiations have broken after the English club withdrawn their interest in signing the player.
Yerry Mina – Manchester United talks broken
Yerry Mina joined FC Barcelona in the January transfer window from Palmeiras. Since then, things didn’t go too well for the defender. He couldn’t impress Ernesto Valverde, and the manager couldn’t include him in his plans. Now the Colombian defender is thinking of a way out from the Spanish club.
Despite a strong World Cup performance with Columbia, Yerry Mina has been pushed further down the Barca pecking order with the arrival of Clement Lenglet. The defender scored three goals in Russia and played a vital role for his nation at the showpiece event.
Before the rumours of the defender linking with Manchester United, he was heavily linked with another English club Everton. But then Yerry Mina emerged as a target for Manchester United, as the Red Devils looked for an alternative to expensive targets Harry Maguire and Toby Alderweireld.
However, now it seems United have pulled the plug on a move for Yerry Mina, focussing their attention on landing Alderweireld instead.
Now, Everton wants to re-enter negotiations with the defender after United pulled off their interest. They have been frustrated over the way they have been dealt with in the negotiating process. The club feels they were used and then discarded when United’s interest emerged.
With time passing on, Mina is now in the middle of nowhere. Time is also running out for the defender, as the transfer window in England will shut down on 9th August.
However, Mina can still find a new team if it doesn’t belong to the English Premier League, as in other parts of the world, the transfer window will end on 31st August.
