Real Madrid forward James Rodriguez has revealed that he is keen to stay with Los Blancos “forever”.
The record €80 million signing who joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2014 has fallen down the pecking order under new manager Zinedine Zidane and has found it hard to break into the starting lineup this season.
The 25-year old’s situation has been very complicated since the start of the season as Zidane preferred even Lucas Vazquez ahead of him in the play-making role which has made the position of Rodriguez questionable.
Earlier reports suggested that the Colombian could either sign a new deal in the summer and can be sold to make space in the squad for a new player and the talented midfielder has expressed his desire to continue his spell at Santiago Bernabeu.
Returning to the starting lineup last weekend in their 4-1 win against Eibar, where Rodriguez scored one and played role in all other goals, the Colombian has revealed his desire to stay with European champions.
“Always when I get a chance [to play] I try and do well,” James is quoted as saying by AS.
“That is all I have in mind. I want to stay here [Madrid] forever. You must be aware that in life and in football you never what will happen, but I want to stay here.”
James Rodriguez has a contract with the club till 2020 as he earns €7.7m a year salary. He has been linked with a host of clubs across Europe since the start of the season.
The likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Juventus are all linked with a move for James but the player has changed his mind since January window as he is more linear to stay at Madrid than move to a different club later this summer.
