Chelsea misfit Falcao’s frustrating loan spell at Stamford Bridge might end in January as he could be offered an escape route to Valencia.
The Colombian striker arrived at Old Trafford in summer 2014 on a loan from French side Monaco.
But he was always struggling to score after the serious knee injury he suffered last year and finally van Gaal decided to send him packing.
Chelsea surprisingly took a gamble and signed the 29-year-old troubled Falcao before the start of the season but once again he failed to give any support to the Blues attacking line.
And now Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is ready to terminate the season-long loan of Falcao in January, according to a report from the Daily Mirror.
Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann, Arsenal target Gonzalo Higuain, Lokomotiv Moscow’s Baye Oumar Niasse and Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette are said to be on the shortlist of players Mourinho is looking to bolster his attacking line.
Reports suggest, the under-fire Portuguese manager is desperate to sign two strikers in January and has decided to get the huge salary of Falcao off the wage bill as soon as possible.
Spanish club Valencia have already showed interest and are talking to Falcao’s representatives, a deal could be wrapped up very soon to give the Colombian an escape route.
Reports are saying, Falcao himself has decided to move away from Chelsea, but that would require the confirmation of Monaco as well, who might not agree so easily. The Ligue 1 club cannot afford Falcao’s wages right now, so they would be planning another loan or some other financial arrangement for the Colombian.
Monaco was also interested in Inter Millan striker Mauro Icardi who recently has given some hints about his uncertain future in Milan. The Nerazzurri captain was linked with Monaco in the summer transfer window also. That means the French side can use Falcao as bait to rope in Icardi.
