Sir Alex Ferguson must have been taken aback to see two first-half goals during League Cup semifinal tie between Manchester City and Everton.

Who would have expected Ferguson to be present at Etihad for his own pleasure watching Manchester City playing? The legendary Old Trafford figure contested some of the epic showdowns with The Cityzens in his last few years at Manchester United, often scrapped with the two side’s inter-city rivalry over a succession of Premier League silverwares. The Scotsman also increased the tension between the two clubs famously when he quipped that Manchester City were the “noisy neighbours” as far as Manchester United were concerned.

Now it looks like Sir Alex is collecting some of that noise himself sitting in the Etihad director’s box.

With Manchester City fighting with Everton in the second leg of the League Cup semifinal last evening, Fergie was pictured watching from the sidelines. Was he on a secret scouting mission? Uncertainty still remains, no one could possibly say that. But we can confirm that his surprising appearance at The Etihad has led to some serious trolling for United with football fans came out with some hilarious banters.

With van Gaal’s team now 11 matches without a first-half goal at Old Trafford, their football has become a studied exercise for the fans, pundits, critics and now many think that Ferguson finally grab the opportunity to experience an entertaining piece of football as he travelled to the other side of the town to watch Pellegrini’s boys.

Most of the fans believe, Fergie even quietly enjoyed his trip to the Etihad while some think he finally watched some first half goals.
