Jose Mourinho’s side suffered their ninth defeat of the season against Leicester City at the KP Stadium on Monday evening. Chelsea were not in the best of form this season and were lacking consistently and their poor form really reflected once again in the game. The irony was that on one hand the home side were trying their best to go back to the top of the points table, while the champions of England were battling it out to stay away from the relegation zone. A win on the night would have made things a bit better for the Blues, though it was not meant to be the case.
Jamie Vardy was once again the man to turn to, as he gave the hosts the lead in the 34th minute and the first half ended with the score at 1-0.
Another man in form, Mahrez, doubled his side’s lead after half-time when he scored on the 48th minute, giving the Foxes a huge advantage over the Portuguese manager’s side.
The west London side kept pushing for goals themselves and barely managed to score a consolation on the 77th minute, as Loic Remy put one in.
It was all in vain as the game ended in a 2-1 win to Leicester and Chelsea dropped yet another crucial three points.
Retaining the league title did not seem likely and now it seems that the chance to finish in a top four could be gone as well.
Here are the reactions of the fans on social media after yet another defeat for Mourinho’s side:
For the #Chelsea fans wondering who the #Leicester manager is, he is the guy who used to manage your club before you started supporting it.
