Same old England yet again. Four years from South Africa and probaby nothing has changed. The Three Lions got off their campaign to the worst possible maner as Italy deservedly won Group D’s second encounter at Manaus on Saturady night. Cludio Marchisio’s long range effort had earlier given the Azzurris teh lead before Daniel Sturridge restored parity 90 seconds later. Mario Balotelli then grabbed the winner early into the second half to send England back to the chnaging room without anything to show.
Here are the Twitter recations from the encounter
Look good old win is Andrea Pirlo!
#eng 1 #ita 2. #Pirlo is 35 and has been absolutely superb again. A master-class in the use of possession. Again. #WorldCup

Pretty much sums up the affair
Pirlo also his usual self, Candreva was energetic and got it right when it counted, Sirigu utterly vital standing in for Gigi.

The road doesn’t geteasier for England
Uruguay is a must win game now, performance was average. Chances need to be taken. Italy had two, scored two.

Perhaps it was expected in hindsight
Same old story for England. Expected a much better performance against what was termed a “average” Italy #FifaWorldCup

How can you simply hate this guy?
Love Mario Balotelli. Just love him. That’s all #ENGITA pic.twitter.com/m8mJd1HSHC

Pretty much sums it up!
England just look to play as individuals. The second world cup in a row where they don’t really seem united. #WorldCup #ENGITA

Need I say more. Classy Touch
Pirlo’s pre-game prep works wonders. #legend #ENGITA #WorldCup2014 pic.twitter.com/fQbczQplWr

Uncle Roy have you heard that?
Phil Neville’s voice just ruined that game. Should let Boris Johnson do the next game. Make it more entertaining commentary #ENGITA
