Two Big Arsenal Stars Missed Training, But Duo May Return In Champions League Clash

Arsenal stars Santi Cazorla and Nacho Monreal missed out on training ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Ludogorets, while winger Theo Walcott trained alone for a period ahead of the club’s fourth game in the European competition.

Cazorla has been out of action since suffering an Achilles injury in the away tie with the Bulgarian outfit, in which the Gunners won 6-0 thanks in part to a hat trick from Mesut Ozil.

Monreal was replaced by Kieran Gibbs in the 4-1 victory over Sunderland after struggling with a muscular issue, and the pair were both absent from yesterday’s session.

Walcott is currently out of the team through illness, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain impressing in his place following fine showings against Reading and the Black Cats on Saturday.

The England international did his own work for the beginning of the session but was pictured in a drill with his teammates at a later stage, meaning he could be in contention to start against Ludogorets.

Walcott will want to re-join the action as quickly as possible considering his phenomenal form for the Gunners this season.

Having spent over ten years with the club, many of his critics believe that the former Southampton prodigy has never truly fulfilled his potential in London, but his start to the 2016/17 campaign has certainly started to prove some of his doubters wrong.

Another man who will be out to win back the fans is Olivier Giroud, who went a long way to doing so with a crucial quickfire brace at the weekend.

The Frenchman has struggled with injuries and inconsistency at the Emirates, but showed exactly what he was capable of against David Moyes side.

However, Giroud will need to show that he can be relied upon on a consistent basis, and whilst Ludogorets may not the most glamorous opposition for the forward to showcase his talent against, any impact he can make will prove integral to possibly seeing him being restored to the starting line-up.

Aaron Ramsey will also be hoping to be handed a chance after his return to full training.

The Welshman suffered an injury in the opening day defeat against Liverpool and had been unable for selection until the Sunderland victory, where the midfielder enjoyed a cameo role towards the end of the game.

Arsenal face Tottenham next in the Premier League, who have also enjoyed a fine start to the season.

However, recent draws against Leicester and West Brom have hampered the progress of Mauricio Pochettino’s side, so three points against their bitter rivals will be desperately craved.

It’s shaping up to be an interesting week for those involved with Arsenal – will it be a successful one?
