Manchester United put Valdes up for sale, player retaliates with a tweet
Manchester United’s second choice goalkeeper Victor Valdes is all set to leave the club this summer after he had a tiff with Dutch manager Louis van Gaal. Louis van Gaal had earlier spoke about why he did not include the Spanish custodian in the pre-season tour squad. He had opined that Valdes does not compel to his philosophy and his thinking which has forced him to exclude the goalkeeper from the squad.
Victor Valdes had joined the club this winter on a free transfer but only managed to play just two games in the entire season. The ex-Barcelona custodian had to play for reserve squad and U21 side.
In yesterday’s press conference Van Gaal said: He refused last year to play in the second team. There are a lot of other aspects in the philosophy how you have to play like a goalkeeper at Manchester United.
When you are not willing [to apply] the principles of that philosophy there is only one way, and that is out.
For us this is a big disappointment. We thought he would follow our philosophy.
Valdes is not selected [for the tour] because he doesn’t follow my philosophy. The philosophy is how you play football and how you maintain your match rhythm.
Valdes had signed an 18-month contract in January but now it had been reported that he is in talks with La Liga side Valencia over a possible loan move.
Today, the player has hit back at his manager on twitter where he posted images of United’s U21 fixtures and an image with his reserve team mates and wrote …? #Respect.
The following events give a clear hint that Victor Valdes will no longer stay at Manchester United and play as a second fiddle to compatriot David De Gea. Victor Valdes had previously played under Louis van Gaal at FC Barcelona.
