Just pipping John O’Shea, Wes Brown and Diego Forlan as Manchester United’s most unlikely cult hero in the Premier League, Park Ji-sung always gave everything he had when donning the red shirt and the fans appreciated him for it.
The South Korean international was a versatile midfielder and was often called upon by Sir Alex Ferguson, especially in the grandest of occasions. His work ethic and tireless displays earned him the nickname “Three Lungs Park”.
His stats as a cult hero did not follow him to Queens Park Rangers, who he signed for after leaving Old Trafford, although a final loan spell at former club PSV Eindhoven meant Park would end his career on a high.
